Great News!!! We received the most prestigious Business Award in the United Kingdom!!!
We are delighted to inform you all that Her Majesty The Queen has been graciously pleased to approve the Prime Minister’s recommendation that a Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in the International Trade category should this year be conferred upon Yellow Octopus Ltd, on Wednesday 21 April (Her Majesty’s birthday). International Trade category recognises companies that have demonstrated growth in overseas earnings.
The Queen normally invites members of each winning business unit to an evening Reception at Buckingham Palace - this is a wonderful opportunity for us to meet Her Majesty and tell the Queen more about Yellow Octopus.
As a winner of an Award this year we are entitled to make use of the Queen's Emblem until 2015!!!
The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are the UK's most prestigious Awards for business performance. They recognise and reward outstanding achievement by UK companies. They are presented in three separate categories: International Trade, Innovation, and Sustainable Development. The Awards are made each year by The Queen, on the advice of the Prime Minister, who is assisted by an Advisory Committee that includes representatives of Government, industry and commerce, and the trade unions.

UK’s most exciting and ambitious young entrepreneurs have been named Young Guns for 2009. In its seventh successful year, the Young Guns list, created by Growing Business magazine, has an unrivalled track record for unearthing phenomenal business talent.
Despite the challenging economic environment, the Young Guns Class of 2009 is as packed full of fast growing, high quality businesses as ever.
“We conducted our search in one of the toughest trading environments for decades but finding gutsy young entrepreneurs was no more difficult this year, as the quality of the businesses on the final Young Guns 2009 list demonstrates,” said James Hurley, editor of Growing Business magazine.
To qualify, entrepreneurs had to be 35 or under, running a privately held business and able to demonstrate a unique and outstanding business that has experienced considerable growth and success.

The Panel of Judges included Celebrity Entrepreneur BBC Dragons’ Den Star - Peter Jones, Managing Director of British Chambers of Commerce - John Dunsmere, BT Business Marketing Director - Mick Hegarty together with other distinctive business personalities decided to award Yellow Octopus Ltd with a title of BT BUSINESSS ESSENCE OF THE ENTREPRENEUR. The Award celebrates the achievements of small businesses that have demonstrated exceptional dedication and have found new directions to succeed in business with the help of technology.
As a part of the Award winners received a dedicated photo shoot in London taken by famous portrait and fashion photographer Rankin - who‘s legendary portfolio of pictures includes The Queen of England, Oasis, Tony Blair and a naked Kylie Minogue....though Jack was fully dressed the atmosphere during the photo shoot was great and everybody had a lot of laughs.
BT Business Essence of the Entrepreneur 2008 winners Award Ceremony was held at gallery@oxo, on London’s South Bank. It was a good opportunity to chat and learn from the most successful UK Entrepreneurs.

The award was presented by Digby, Lord Jones of Birmingham - the then Minister for Trade & Investment, in front of 700 guests at the ABDN 10th Annual Dinner at Savile’s Hall in Leeds. The ABDN enterprise network was set-up to encourage ethnic minority entrepreneurship, facilitating excellent business strength across the Yorkshire Region.
The awards are the benchmark for high-achieving businesses to come together and celebrate the achievements of British entrepreneurship in the North.

The award was presented on 21 May 2008 in the House of Commons in London. Jack received the award from the IAB President and Leeds North-East MP Fabian Hamilton and former BBC Dragon's Den investor Rachel Elnaugh. Launched in association with IAB Qualifications for Business, Lloyds TSB, Mamut Software, FA Simms & Partners Plc, IPP, IBMG Media and Companies House, the prestigious awards, now celebrating ten years, have become a regular event on the calendar of the small business community.
